For Christmas the ‘family’ gave Josie a hand-painted copy of a Great Auk egg especially imported from an eccentric gentleman in UK … so we all rejoiced when we finally set eyes on the real thing … dead and extinct: a simple observation suggests why this might be the case.  Josie has rebuffed my aesthetic darwinian interpretation, but hey, it couldn’t run fast or fly far enough to withstand the onslaught of humanity (said Josie).
