Teachings

We managed to get to the last day of the Dalai Lama’s teachings in Leh.  For the first three we were holed up in our hotel catching the Olympics when the power was on, and generally recovering from several days of hair-raising travel up into the Himalaya.

His Holiness comes every few years and the whole valley stops … even the doctor we had come to the hotel suggested he couldn’t do any visits until the afternoon, when the teachings finished for the day.  The bustling town emptied, the fields emptied, literally everyone attended, even us non-Buddhists, on the last day.

Snow capped peaks in the distance, reincarnates by the dozen, it was not to be missed.
